I’ve tried switching away to Bloglines before. Newsgator, Feedness, FeedDemon, Google Reader, etc etc etc… I’m still waiting for Feedness to reopen (Walter! Vamos! ;))
Yet to me Bloglines has always been the quickest and most logical implementation of an RSS reader. Google Reader had a couple features that Bloglines didn’t, like marking items as read only have you had scrolled by them.
Well, I’ve finally switched from plan old Bloglines…to Bloglines Beta. It is quick, easy, familiar, and now I don’t mark an entire neglected feed as “read” by simply clicking on it…I can scroll and read just what I have time for.
Check it out for yourself.

It’s done.
Finally, you can unlock your iPhone from AT&T’s network using easily available online tools, without having to do any work on the hardware, for free (free as in no money, nada, zip).
I expect to see iPhones popping up all over the world for sale now, since they can be used on any GSM network.

From Slashdot (and many other sources):
The RIAA has officially backed a move by the recording industry to reintroduce the CD single. Populated with three songs and a ringtone, this brilliantly clueless idea is to be marketed as a ‘ringle,’ complete with an even more clueless retail price of $6-7 per CD.

Since Comcast is shutting off heavy internet users, why not just establish a daily cap? Or tiered pricing?
As I was posting the last blog entry, I thought, “Why doesn’t Comcast just establish a below 3 GB/day and 3+ GB/day services?”
If folks watch a lot of video, transfer tons of home movies, or…you know…pirate insane amounts of music, they can pay for it. Then those who just use the web for email, weather, and news would have a different rate.
I don’t know…I’m thinking out loud here…

Sorry, I just can’t get too worked up over this kind of news:
Comcast Disconnecting Users Who Download More than 4 Movies a Day?
So much for so-called “unlimited” internet access.
Who downloads four movies every day?!?!
Could this be the next front in the war on piracy?
I’ve got no problem with someone downloading stuff from bittorrent…but sucking an average of four movies (or 60 music albums) per day from the web does seem a bit excessive and within the rights of Comcast to limit. No?

I’ve been testing this extension out for the past couple days. It is really, and I mean really, awesome. No more ads…anywhere it seems.
When I installed the extension in Firefox I was able to “subscribe” to a list (presumably covering the ad networks that show up here in the USA) that simply blocks the annoying banners and sidebar ads that clutter up the web.
No more dancing couples selling me mortgages…hooray!
Update: Apparently, I’m being immoral. They may have a point.
